About Us

MISSION STATEMENT

The Knox Memorial Library is the main branch of the Austin County Library System. Our library offers innovative, cost-effective services by providing library materials, resources, information, entertainment, and lifelong learning opportunities to enrich the lives of the residents of Austin County.

HISTORY

The Knox Memorial Library is the main branch of Austin County Library System. The library was a gift to the citizens of Wallis and to the surrounding communities by Robert W. Knox in memory of his grandfather, Joseph E. Wallis, the founder of Wallis, Texas. The Knox Memorial Library’s automated library collection and free Public Access Internet service is available to meet the informational and recreational needs of the community’s residents. The library provides services not only to Wallis, but to all of Austin County; also patrons from three adjoining counties: Fort Bend County, Simonton, Colorado County and Wharton County.
